If you’re wondering if this Gorilla grow tent is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. I created this review to answer any questions you may have about this option. Here’s what you need to know about this 4×4 Gorilla grow tent.

Gorilla Grow Tent Lite Line 4×4 Review

Gorilla Grow Tent is a San Francisco-based company that launched in 2011. The goal of the business was to create strong, functional, durable indoor grow tents with vertical adjustment options to meet the needs of indoor gardeners. Over time, the company solidified its reputation for quality, and its commitment to offering high-quality products shows in every Gorilla Grow Tent line.

One thing that sets Gorilla Grow Tent apart is that the company focuses specifically on tents. Unlike some other manufacturers that concentrate on other components too – such as LED grow lights – Gorilla is tent-focused. While they offer supplementary products that work with tents, including carbon filters and other accessories, the company’s main mission is creating exceptional tents, which sets it apart.

Gorilla grow tents are known for their performance and features, but the regular line comes with price tags that don’t work for many beginners. Thankfully, there’s the Gorilla Lite line. Along with costing less, they aren’t as heavy as the regular line. Essentially, it offers much of what you get with other Gorilla grow tents, just at a price you can afford.

With a Gorilla grow tent Lite, you get a discreet place for indoor grows. Additionally, it helps you maintain the ideal conditions – including light, temperature, and humidity – without having to alter the state of an entire room.

Advantages

The Gorilla grow tent Lite line is designed to make indoor gardening practical and affordable, offering some higher-end features without a massive price tag. The diamond reflective interior insulates the space and focuses light, making it easier to achieve bigger yields.

One benefit of the Gorilla Grow Tent Lite Line 4×4 is that it’s surprisingly tall. You can make it as high as 6 feet 7 inches, right out of the box, giving you ample vertical space. Plus, a one-foot extension is available (for an additional cost), allowing you to get a height of 7 feet 7 inches instead.

This Gorilla grow tent features an interlocking steel frame. While it’s less robust than the frames you find in the regular line, it’s still incredibly strong. The canvas – which is also lighter weight than the traditional line – is highly effective at containing heat and light. Plus, there are Velcro seam covers to make the grow tent light-tight. When taken together, the tent is durable without being overly heavy.

Some of the most impressive extra features are the multiple access doors. The wrap-around design makes getting in through the front easy, but there’s also a rear access door to make reaching the back easier. The second door isn’t something you find on many other tents, making it a standout feature.

The EZ view windows allow you to check your grow without opening the doors. This limits heat, light, and humidity loss when you take a look at your plants, keeping the environment more stable. The included heavy-duty spill tray protects your flooring under the tent and simplifies cleaning up messes.

This Gorilla tent 4×4 has pre-filters featuring micro mesh, which assists with keeping pests out. The integrated tool pouches let you keep critical items nearby at all times, which is highly convenient. You also have industrial zippers that operate smoothly and are designed with durability in mind.

Finally, the Gorilla Grow Tent Lite Line 4×4 is comparatively affordable. While that doesn’t means it’s cheap, it’s within reach of most indoor growers, even beginners.

Disadvantages

Regarding drawbacks, the biggest is that this Gorilla grow tent 4×4 features lighter-weight components than the regular line. While this makes the tent easier to put up, take down, and move, the lighter-weight frame may have slightly less durability if it’s stressed with excess weight. Additionally, the canvas won’t offer the same heat retention and odor protection as some thicker alternatives, though it still does a reasonable job.

Another point to consider is the size. For some, the Gorilla tent 4×4 is large enough to handle their growing needs. However, if your goal is to have a large indoor garden, you may find the 16 square feet of floor space insufficient. Still, the Lite line targets beginners and the budget-conscious, so that isn’t problematic for everyone.

The cinching duct ports are incredibly convenient for running ducting. However, the cinch-based closures may allow for more leakage than some alternative designs that rely on more traditional covers. Again, the difference is potentially minimal, but it’s critical to note that you need to cinch the ports fully to limit any light, heat, or humidity losses.

Some users don’t like that there are fewer top support poles than you find with some alternative tents of a similar size. This may limit your hanging capabilities, as too much weight could strain the frame.

Another point to consider is the size of the duct openings. While their generous size is a plus in the eyes of some indoor growers, others find them excessive. Since the ports could become points of heat and light loss, it’s critical to consider how that impacts any equipment installations you’re considering.

Finally, the tent covering does sit a little loose on the frame. Mainly, this impacts the look of the tent and not its performance. It can also make the canvas easier to put on the underlying structure since it won’t fit overly tight. However, it can make the tent look oversized or wrinkly, so keep that in mind.

Verdict

Overall, I believe the Gorilla Grow Tent Lite Line 4×4 is an excellent choice for beginners. It’s reasonably robust, easy to assemble, and offers a reasonable level of light tightness. Plus, it’s more affordable than many alternatives and provides more height than you may find with other tents, even without the optional extension.

However, there are some alternatives to consider. For example, I discussed available kit options in my Spider Farmer grow tent kit review. With a Spider Farmer 4×4 grow tent kit, you get more than a tent. It also comes with other must-have items, like an LED grow light. It simplifies creating your first setup, which is beneficial for beginners.

For more experienced indoor growers, it’s potentially smart to explore grow tents with more features. You might prefer more support bars for hanging or other higher-end features.

Still, that doesn’t mean you should overlook the Gorilla grow tent Lite line. It’s very capable for the price, so anyone may find it’s just what they’re after. Plus, it’s not a budget-buster, allowing you to grow indoors without breaking the bank.
